Negation in English
Negation turns affirmative statements into negative ones. Use "not" after auxiliary verbs. With no auxiliary, use do/does/did + not.
Why it matters: Negation is used in every conversation. Mastering different negation patterns is essential.
Main uses:
- Not after auxiliary verbs
- Do/does/did + not for simple tenses
- Never, nobody, nothing, nowhere
- Negative prefixes (un-, in-, dis-)
